Hey,

I have a 'business' cable line with 14 static IP's. I use this to run game servers, my personal IRC for friends, and tertiary failover and backup for a lot of my personal sites. This includes all of my personal dns and email. I also host file and database only tertiary backups at the house for all the business sites (no client data). I do not host any clients data of any form from my home. Other then my friends, who have asked to have space on my cluster;

The cluster is three machines running with openvz sitting on a backers rack with networking gear and a pdu and other random stuff like backup batteries and all I bought off ebay and from retail over the years. One of the machines acts full time as the media file server for the household, the other two serve my personal sites and run the backups and such. I zip tied a monitor onto the side of the baker rack along with a keyboard and put other assorted randomness on the rack... (I have pics.. :p) My electric bill doesn't go over $150 in the winter and (sometimes) $350 in the summer (usually around $225 in the summer). Central cooling for the house in the summer is a pain! If you have everything in one room and you have four or more machines in that room I would suggest getting a little hvac unit for them, You will save money in the summer using a little hvac unit instead of the big house one. There are other computers in the house but they go off and on as they are being used.

Now, I know I'm new here and I don't want to sound like I am bragging.. My point is that if you have the money, the space, the patience, the drive, the want, the need, to have a bunch of equipment all churning away in a corner total tech cave like go right on ahead. It's a great learning experience and I hope you get a lot of joy and a lot more knowledge out of it.

Also, I would not put cram a bunch of machines in a closet unless the closet was big enough to walk (not squeeze) around on all sides of the rack and had proper cooling and ventilation.

Well, I'm signing off on this post, Thanks for reading. :-)

The success of your business depends on the perception that your targeted customers have about your venture. This rule is very important when you are trying to make your online presence.  It’s always helpful to learn a few necessary web design rules to build a quality website.

Make your website simple and free from cluttering – Even if you know all the tips and tricks of using Photoshop and Fireworks, you should not use all of them on your web page and make it look cluttered.  Your web design should be simple and appealing.
The visuals that you give in the website should not be just to grab the eyeballs of the visitor.  It should be used as a medium to communicate with the visitors.
The text layout of the web page should be narrow. Don’t make the readers scroll too much sideways to read every line given in your website.
Be consistent in the web designs that you create. Or else visitors may find it difficult to get the necessary information from the website.
Your website should gratify the user needs immediately. If-not they may leave your site soon and choose your competitor.
Easy navigation and browser compatibility are highly important for websites.
Make sure that your website undergoes necessary on-time test for usability. The website should look appealing and should be extremely user-friendly. Make necessary changes whenever needed and do the re-testing from time to time.

If you can manage to get a  Custom Web Design that follows all the basic demands mentioned above, you own a professional web design that’s capable of attracting the targeted clients from different parts of the world.

I am currently looking a back up solution web hosting site. However, it is really hard to choose a better web hosting. I think it is more expensive than the usual web hosting.

I think it is better to go for a trustful domain better than going for a cheap one.
We can be sure about cheap ones. Search about the reputation of company before buying.  Grin
I agree.It is better to be careful before buying any things whether it is a domain or just an underwear!!
